Risk Analysis
The following "Risk Analysis" section contains a 5x5 grid based on users' rankings. Each square in the grid corresponds to a specific risk rating ("Risk Factor or Risk Level x Likelihood of Occurrence). An organization can visually represent its risk landscape by plotting identified risks on this grid.
- The x-axis, or horizontal axis, represents the "Risk" factor. This factor usually denotes the impact or severity of a potential risk. It's graded on a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 representing a minimal impact and 5 representing a catastrophic or highly severe impact.
- The y-axis, or vertical axis, represents the "Probability of Occurring." This factor reflects the likelihood of the risk event occurring. Similarly, it's rated on a scale of 1 to 5, with one being unlikely and five being almost certain to occur.
For example, a risk with a Risk Factor score of 4 and an Occurrence score of 5 would be plotted towards the top right of the grid, indicating a high-risk event that is reasonably likely to occur. Conversely, a risk with an impact score of 2 and a likelihood score of 1 would be towards the bottom left, indicating a less severe and less likely risk.
